Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Foundtion Announces $968,000 in Grants to 24 Organizations.

Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Foundation announces grant awards totaling $968,000 to 24 non-profit organizations.  Of the 24 grants, 9 were in the area of social services totaling $410,000; 8 went to health care for a total of $293,000; the remaining 7 were education related totaling $265,000. 

 

The organizations that received grants are located in the following eight counties:  Buncombe, Catawba, Cleveland, Franklin, Henderson, Jackson, and Mecklenburg Counties in North Carolina and York County in South Carolina.

 

The following organizations received awards this cycle.

 

Social Services

Cleveland County Community Development Corporation, Shelby, NC was awarded $35,000 for salary support of a certified housing counselor.

Community Link, Charlotte, NC was awarded $50,000 in salary support for Housing Counselor/ case management staff for Homeless to Housing services.

Family Promise of York County, Rock Hill, SC was awarded $35,000 for direct care salaries.

Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte, Charlotte, NC was awarded $35,000 for salary support for one FTE site supervisor.

Mountain Child Advocacy Center, Asheville, NC was awarded $25,000 to support the

contractual salaries of licensed clinicians.

Mountain Housing Opportunities, Inc., Asheville, NC was awarded $45,000 to support the Emergency Home Repair Program

Pat's Place Child Advocacy Center, Charlotte, NC was awarded $35,000 in salary support for the Forensic Interview Team staff.

Pisgah Legal Services, Asheville, NC was awarded $75,000 to provide general operating support.

Urban League of the Central Carolinas, Inc., Charlotte, NC was awarded $75,000 in salary support for counselors and instructors in the Continuum of Opportunity workforce development programs.

Health Care

Blue Ridge Mountains Health Project, Cashiers, NC was awarded $25,000 to provide a portion of salary expenses for a staff dentist.

CARING for Children, Inc., Asheville, NC was awarded $50,000 to support the salary of a licensed therapist.

Catawba Valley Behavioral Health, Hickory, NC was awarded $35,000 for salary support of a Peer Support Specialist/Qualified Professional for jail-based mental health, addiction recovery and support.

Community Care Clinic of Franklin, Franklin, NC was awarded $18,000 to provide general operating support.

Florence Crittenton Services, Charlotte, NC was awarded $40,000 in salary support for the

Residential Maternity Program staff

Henderson County Free Medical Clinic, Inc., Hendersonville, NC was awarded $35,000 to provide operating support, specifically, expenses related to diabetes treatment and care.

 

York County First Steps, Rock Hill, SC was awarded $50,000 for salary support of a nurse home visitor and other operating support.

York County Free Clinic, Rock Hill, SC was awarded $40,000 in salary support for a nurse practitioner.

 

Education

Above and Beyond Students, Charlotte, NC was awarded $39,000 for teacher salaries.

Boys & Girls Club Of Henderson County, Hendersonville, NC was awarded $30,000 to provide salary support for Project Learn staff.

Child Care Resources, Inc., Charlotte, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide support for the Ready to Read Program, as part of the Read Charlotte initiative.

CrossRoads Corporation for Affordable Housing & Community Development, Charlotte, NC was awarded $20,000 for salary support for teachers and program staff for the Bulldogs Matter program.

Freedom School Partners, Charlotte, NC was awarded $50,000 to contribute to the salary of the Director of Secondary Scholar Initiatives/Regional Director of Operations.

Green Opportunities, Inc., Asheville, NC was awarded $36,000 to support the Ready To Work Program component of the Job Training and Placement Program.

Heart Math Tutoring, Inc., Charlotte, NC was awarded $40,000 in operating support for math tutoring to be provided in high poverty CMS schools.
